Headquake Media Video Production

Video editing work station

Video creation, editing, and post-production processes do not fall into a one-size-fits-all solution.

The amount of work depends on the quality of resources, the style, the final use of the video, and the type of equipment, talent, and resources it takes to produce it.

We take on video projects with a custom lense for each client. Our award-winning team delights our customers with a top level product

Fixed Rate or Hourly

Fixed fees: We do fixed fees if the client has the video already shot in a usable format, does not require on-location shooting, has a simple voice over recorded or can easily be recorded. We include stock music and images or photography you provided to us to finish.

The fixed fees is based on the agreed upon work at the time of hire. Any additional work outside of the original scope is billed at our normal hourly rate.

Hourly rates: We provide you with an amount that reflects the minimum amount of hours we expect it will take to complete the work.

This factors in things that aren’t included in fixed fees such as location shoots, voice over work, drone footage, studio time, etc. It also means that the client may expect that the final product may run over the minimum hours and this provides flexibility if you need to make changes on the fly.

Our favorite rule of thumb when choosing a creative service:

You can get it good | You can get it fast | You can get it cheap.

Pick two.

Typical Industry Charges

The hourly rates for our team of video editors and post-production professionals charge are in the range from $50 to $100 per hour, depending on the skill and expertise needed to complete the video and deliver it to the client for use.

Experienced professionals charge about $100 per hour. You can hire a video studio for less, but expect less and sometimes longer time to get your video.

Higher rates don’t mean more money for the same hours. It means higher quality delivered in less time because an experienced professional is an efficient professional.

Video Type = Hours in Production.

The type of video use matters in determining the amount of hours needed.

Wedding video for example, are a straight-forward project. Typical video is shot with 1-2 camera angles and edited length is 5 minutes Your can expect a wedding video will run around $300.

Branded/Marketing/Corporate videos tend to be more expensive because the finished deliverable depends on several factors. Organizing time and is included in the quote.

These projects typically fall under the following categories:

  • Convention presentation screens

  • Social Media: three basic formats

  • Marketing: Multiple screen options

  • Branded: Internal communication

  • Television: fixed length and resolution

If there’s a script or storyline required, we provide that as part of the quote. Voice over recording depends on the level of talent needed or if it needs to be a filmed narrative.

We break down the hours per skill involved in your final invoice. You will be kept apprised of your project status through our portal. Your approval for any changes from the initial scope is required before performing them.

We also provide storyboarding, animation, audio, and special effects.

Stay Ahead of Cost

Changes in post-production: It’s wise for clients to have their projects final decisions made before a video goes into production.

This is the most sensitive part in the billing process. We do not absorb the additional work when scope changes impact the hours to complete a project. Changes of direction, content, length, visuals, aspect ratio can really eat up the hours when a video is already in production. A client literally pays twice for production time.

We use a one-round approach. A client does well with this phase if they can get all their stakeholders together to review and approve the final edits.

Minor changes should be all that is needed for the edit round. Any changes beyond that point could extra hours billed.

Other important factors that determine the cost:

A rush job with a high-level of priority

Licensing fees

Features like animation, interactivity, and augmented reality
